Vincen't Endo Appt.

Polishing the ride

Christmas morning!

We took Vince to his first Endo. appointment today. The doctor was very nice. After talking to him for a bit he said that Vincent's condition is something to watch and that he would like to see the hormone get back into normal range by itself, but that he is sure this issue will resolve on its own. He said he has no concern that this is someting to worry about. He will have to go for a couple more blood tests so be sure there was nothing missed. We go back in mid Febraury to go over the test results.

We hope everyone had a safe and fun holiday. We are so blessed to have such wonderful familyand friends to spend the holidays with. We had a great Christmas Eve with Jason's family at Sal and Anna's house. We didn't get home from their house until 12 at night, but we had so much fun. JJ had a blast playing with Tara, Jake, Chase and Ryan. We got to see Nathaniel for the first time in along time and it was so nice, we've really missed him! Thank you Sal and Anna for such a wonderful time.

Christmas day was spent opening presents and stockings in the morning. We got to have breakfast as a family, which is something we rarely get to do. We got the boys a Power wheels John Deer tractor, and they were so excited. It has a wagon it pulls., and JJ would sit in it and want Vince to drive him around. It was so precious.
The rest of the afternoon was spent with my family at Keith and Bonnie's house, which was also a great time. The weather was extremely nasty, and it was so foggy and rainey that we couldn't see 2 feet in front of us on the way to their house, it really felt like Christmas! The kids got bikes (except Vince) and they were having a blast with them, even though it was raining. We had an amazing dinner, Thank you Keith and Bonnie for having us and cooking! The kids all opened their gifts, and they had so much fun all playing together.
We hope you all had as wonderful of a Christmas as we did!

Vincent News

When babies are born they have a blood test done the very first day. It is called a newborn screen, and it tests for 22 or 29 diseases, two of the most common found at birth is PKU and CH (congenital hypothyroidism). Vincent had his done and when it came back and everything was fine except for that he has slightly elevated thyroid hormone levels, indicating CH. He went in to the doctor right away to have a second screen done because it is very often that it is a mistake or it it didn't read right.

With CH they test your T3 and T4 levels, those are both thyroid hormones. This is a website that can tell you more about how the T3 and T4 is tested and what the hormones do: http://www.webmd.com/a-to-z-guides/thyroid-hormone-tests. Ch can cause delays, mental retardation, and some other things. Vincents second test came back and the first test was correct and either the T3 or T4 was elevated by 2 points higher then it should be, and the other one was normal. So we were slightly relieved because my doctor said normally when you have CH both the T3 and T4 are elevated and when they are elevated they are like 100 or 200 points above whats normal. She said being that only one was elevated by 2 points it didn't seem likely for CH to be a diagnosis. She said it is very common for some of the mothers thyroid hormone to cross over in gestation and to be absolutely sure and rule out CH we would do another blood test at 4months old. We were very relieved and thought nothing of it.

At his 4 month check she gave me the papers to get his blood test redone. She reassured me that everything would be fine she was sure it was nothing. I took him to the first place and waited for 2 hours at a Lab Corp. We finally got in and the lady was very nervous. She said it might be hard for her to get his blood. She got his little arm ready and started feeling around for a vein. She told me he is very fat and it was hard to keep tract of where the vein was. That should of been my first sign to tell the lady to get the hell of my kid, but I knew we needed the test for a piece of mind. She stuck the needle in his arm and nothing, except tears and crying. A cry I had never heard him cry before I could barley stand it. She took it out right away and bandaged him up and I just held him as close as I could. It didn't take long for him to calm down. And then she told told me that there was nothing she could do because he is too fat! She told me to go to John C Lincoln hospital that they had a special light to put under the arm for situations like this.

I was mentally exhausted at this point and decided to wait a couple days to try these whole thing again. My mom came over and watched JJ while I ran Vincent over to the hospital to see about getting this done. I had a weird feeling on the way over because I have been in the medical scene for a while and had never heard of such a light. But I am also not a doctor so I figured who knows. But i just had that gut feeling on the way over. Sure enough when I get there before I even explain anything about the light they get insurance info. After a couple minutes the lady explains to me how they don't even take our insurance. But she was positive that Arrowhead took it. Extremely frustrated I left and headed home. I decided to give it the weekend and try again at Arrowhead Monday.

Monday came and me and my mom and the boys headed over to Arrowhead. After 20 minutes of waiting they take my insurance info and kindly explain to me that they don't take his insurance for Lab work!

I call my doctor and tell her how irritated I am and she sends me to another place where she said it wouldn't be a problem that that is where most of the parents go. So last week I headed over there with him. They take my insurance and the wait wasn't even half bad just about 45 minutes. We are called back and they get him ready. She puts the needle in and nothing, except for tears and crying again, she takes it out and does it again, nothing! She did it twice more before I said Enough! We really needed the test so I told her to get the other Nurse in there and try the other arm. The other Nurse got it right away, no problem. I could have beaten that nurse. I t is amazing the adrenaline that comes over you when a situation involves your child. The saying, "Never come between a mother bear and her cubs," brought on a whole new meaning to me. I was so relieved though once it was done and all we had to then was wait for the results. We decided not to really tell anyone because we were sure everything would be fine and that it was nothing.

A nurse called me with the results this past Monday. His thyroid levels were elevated. The nurse told me we would have to go to an endocrinologist. I were shocked, thrown back, and shaken up. I was home with the boys and just started crying. JJ came over and rubbed my back and in that sweet little voice said, " kay, Mommy? kay?" I took a deep breathe but it didn't help. I called the Nurse back that had called with the results and told her I needed to speak to the doctor directly.

The doctor called me back who knows us very well and have actually become quick fond of, she takes care of my niece and nephew too. And has been the kids doctors since both the boys were born. And she knows exactly how I am, over thinking every medical aspect of my children's lives. She told me it had stil only come back 2 points over the normal and only on the one hormone level. She said it could stil be nothing, she said or it could be the beginning of something. She said we could wait 2 more months and test again but why wait. So we have and endo appt. the 26th of December. So we will just have to take it day by day and see what happens. He seems fine though eats, sleeps and poops normal and is happy for the most part except when JJ is teasing him, and even that he finds funny sometimes. Keep him your prayers please!

My little reindeers

Well we have visited Santa 3 times now all at different events this season. And everytime JJ gets a little better at it. Vince hasn't cared either way all three times. These pictures are from our most recent visit at the Anthem Outlets by my parents house. After seeing Santa they got reindeer antlers and JJ actually enjoyed wearing them, it was so cute!

Well we put up our Charlie Brown christmas tree and decided we want to get a real tree. I think we are going toput the Charlie Brown christmas tree in the front yard though. JJ had a lot of fun putting it together and putting some decorations on it. He has actually been really good about not pulling the lights and ornaments off of it. Last year we had to put a gate around it.

Photography

I have become obsessed with photography! I bought a really nice camera a couple of months ago, and haven't stopped taking pictures since. I have learned how to do some really nice things with photo shop as well. As much as I enjoy taking pictures of the kids, I would also like to share it with everyone else. I truley believe pictures are priceless and everyones life should be filled with them. If anyone is interested in having pictures done I would love to take them. all the pictures posted are ones I have taken and photo shopped. The one of Sal, Uncle Joe and Frankie, the table was full of glasses, dishes and a wine bottle and was able to remove it all with photo shop!
In other news, Vincent went to the doctor yesterday and is one ounce shy of 16 lbs. I cna't believe how fast they grow. Almost makes me want another but not quite!
The weekend of Thanksgiving my sister and I did our first sale for our boutique! It was a 3 day sale. We just recieved our check and invoice for how much we sold and we sold 83 items and made a little more then 300 dollars! Not bad for our first sale, I am very excited!

Tuesday, December 2, 2008

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. We spent Thanksgiving with Jason's family and went to my sister's house the next day and did a second dinner. JJ would only eat the corn and nothing else. I tried to get him to eat the candied sweet potatoes figuring he would like the sweetness and he wouldn't even eat that. It was nice to see everyone but I am sure glad the weekends over.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday, me and my sister did our first sale as a vendor for our company. We were pleasantly suprised how well we did as first time sellers. It was a great experience to start with and gave us many new ideas. Our website will be updated by next week with new product!

Our Wedding!

I forgot to mention in the last blog that after 6 years, 2 kids and a lot of planning we have an official wedding date! June 13th, 2009. We will be getting married at Blessed Sacrament Church, it is the church that we belong to in Scottsdale. We are looking into having the reception there as well but we are not sure yet! We will keep you updated as more details are decided on. Mark your calendars now!

Vincent's Baptism

Bella and JJ holding hands, best buddies!

Grama and Grampa Lombardi with Vincent on his Special Day!

Vincen't baptism went very well for the most part. JJ screamed throught the first half of Vince's baptism because Iwouldn't let him eat the gum in my purse. But other then that it was nice. The ceremony was short and sweet, and the party we had afterwards was a lot of fun, a lot of great people and a lot of great food!

Since Vince will be five months on the 21st, I decided to start him on rice cereal and he was enjoying that so much I started him on his vegetables last night! I started him with green beans first. I believe you give them all the vegetables for a while before giving them the fruit because then they really won't want to eat the vegetables! He didn't really care for the green beans but he ate them anyway.

I have to go to traffic school tonight, I haven't gotten a ticket in three years. The last ticket I got I was going exactly how fast you have to be set the radar off, and the same with this one. So if I had been going one mile less the camerea wouldn't had gane off! So annoying. But oh well.

JJ is speaking more and more. He is linking 3-4 words together now. It so funny, he will say something and I have to re-run what he just said in my head, because half the stuff he says these days I didn't know he could say!

halloween pics finally~!

The Little Kangaroo himself!

All of us at Boo at the Zoo!

Vince with his halloween spirit!

Well we had quite the Halloween! We had everyone over our house for a little Halloween party. It's was a really fun night, JJ trick or treating for the first time. Or rick ow reat, as he would say. He was very polite, when he got his candy he would say elcome (welcome and then tell the people buh bye! It was so adorable. Unfortunately though he caught his cousins stomach bug and was throwing up all night! he hadn't been himself all day and he didn't even eat much sweets at the party but then again he didn't eat much all day! He was sick for about 2 days and then felt fine. But then I got it! I was sick for 2 days with horrible aches and pains and couldn't go into work. Then just as I started feeling better Vince now has it. So it has been a viscous cycle, the only one who hasn't gotten it is Jason, and that's probably because he isn't home all day with the 3 of us.

Other then that we are pretty upset Obama won. I think I am more upset though that more then half the people who voted for him were not voting for his ideas or policies but just to be able to say they voted for the first black president! And that makes me very nervous. If you want to see what I am talking about check out this link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NyvqhdllXgU Even if you are for Obama people should not vote just to jump on the band wagon. I would feel the same way if people were voting for Mc Cain for these reasons.

But anyway enough about politics and back to my happiness! Vince had his four month check up and he is 15lbs. 2 ox. and I think it was 24 inches. JJ is going to be in for some trouble when this kid starts walking because Vince is only 6 lbs behind him as of right now!

We go for our first Marriage prep class tonight and we should know an exact date of our wedding by the end of the month or early next month! We will keep everyone updated!

Wednesday, October 29, 2008

I haven't wrote in a couple weeks but we have been so busy! Two weekends ago we went to a wedding, that was absolutely beautiful. It was held at the Botanical Garden. This past weekend we went to the zoo, they basically had a halloween party at the zoo. The kids had a lot of fun. I should be getting copies of pics from my mom soon! And now Friday we are having a halloween party at the house. This is our second year doing it and I think we are going to make it an annual thing! Next weekend we go talk to the Father at our church to start our marriage classes, YES we are finally planning our wedding!!! It should be in June, we are hoping for the 6th. When we get married it will be 6 years! And then the 16th of November is Vincent's Baptism! Don't worry if you haven't gotten an invite yet I haven't sent them out yet. So we have been very busy to say the least!
I can't remember if I wrote this in the last blog or not but JJ is now sleeping in his toddler bed! And Vince has finally been kicked out of our bed into his own room. Jj is now going on the potty atleast 3 times a day! This excites us very much. JJ is now being a kangaroo for halloween instead of a giraffe. Vincent went to the doctor the other day and now weighs 14lbs. 12oz. He is such a moose and we love it!

Friday, October 17, 2008

Well JJ has gone pee pee on the potty 3 times over the last week. He gets very excited and proud of himself when he goes. I am hoping he will move forward with this because I can not wait to have less diapers to buy.

We were in babies r us the other day and I tried a giraffe costume on JJ and when I tried to take it off he threw a fit kicking and screaming in the middle of the store. So I decided to buy it instead of battling him in the middle of the store, figuring I could return if I decided we didn't like it. So I let him wear it until we get to the check out line and he still refused to take it off. so I had to rip the tag off just so the lady could ring it up. He wore it out to the car and I finally had to wrestle it off him because it was still in the high 90's that day and I was not letting him get in the car seat like that.

So I guess JJ is going to be a giraffe and Vince already had a lion costume that I had bought my niece when she was a baby, so it actually kind of worked out perfectly.

Vince went to the doctor Wed. because he keeps getting very minor bloody noses. Actually its only the right nostril that keeps bleeding and its not even enough to drip down to his lip but it still had me concerned because it had happened like 4 or 5 times over 2 weeks. The doctor looked at it and said she didn't' see anything and it is probably just a sensitive blood vessel in his nose but that if it happens again to bring him back in to do a blood test on his platelets. But meanwhile he already gained another 2 and a half pounds! he now weighs 14lbs 3oz!

Halloween is in the air

JJ last Halloween

Our Halloween decorations

the spider webbing that JJ thinks is a mess!

Yesterday me and JJ got out the Halloween box and started decorating. I am having a hard time believing it is already that time of the year. It has cooled off nicely here in Arizona. Last weekend it was in the high 70's low 80's and Saturday was overcast with light showers. and it is suppose to be cool again this weekend. Last year JJ was too small to trick or treat or really get into the decorations, so it has been fun seeing him react to the Halloween stuff. Although he told me when we were putting up the spider webbing, "is a mess!"

what a day

Maurin and Kyle before Londyn's appearance. Great couple!

Little Miss Londyn, absolutely precious!

Yesterday I spent with one of my best girlfriends, since freshman year of high school, Maurin, as she got ready to deliver her first baby and it was so amazing! She had me in the room to take pictures of her beautiful baby girl, Londyn. My mom picked up the kids at 6:30 in the morning. When I had gotten to the hospital they had already broken her water and was all hooked up. From then until about 5p.m. we waited for Londyn to make her appearance. Maurin dilated about a centimeter an hour but after she hit 5 cm it only took an hour and a half to start pushing, once she started pushing Londyn arrived in a quick 20 minutes. Londyn had her cord wrapped around her neck twice but the doctor quickly cut it and she was okay! Londyn was 7lbs 1 oz and 20 in.

JJ started two new phrases yesterday, " what a mess" and "let go"! And when you ask JJ who made the mess he says, " Not JJ"! I can't believe how he just really starting picking up vocabulary!

Our first blog

JJ has just turned 19 months and also turned a new leaf in his personality. They call it terrible two's but it seems more like terrible eighteen month old to who knows when this will end. He has found a new obsession over the words "NO" and "MINE"! We now find him repeating everything we say! His new sentences of the week are, "who did that?" and "where did it go?" Very charming most of the time but he definitely has been having his moments.

Vincent on the other hand is growing like a moose. He is already almost 12 pounds. We are loving his fat little rolls and chunky cheeks as we never experienced this with JJ due to his pyloric stenosis, he is still playing catch up in the weight department. We would not be surprised if Vince quickly overpowers JJ once he is mobile. Vince has been cooing and smiling and laughing a lot this past month. It is amazing how much he has grown already.

Jason is still working for a contracting company called Markham. They treat him very well there and plus he enjoys playing with all the big boy trucks! He works Monday thru Saturday and enjoys his Sundays off.

As for me I went back to work about 2 or 3 months ago as a private in home nurse, but I am not caring for the same guy I did before I had JJ. This new guy is married and has a one year old daughter who is absolutely adorable. His house is only about 8 minutes from ours so it is nice on my gas tank. I go Monday through Friday at night to get him to bed, and Thursday through Sunday in the morning to get him up. I have also recently started a baby couture web based business with my sister called Nucci Baby Couture. We have created a website, Nuccibabycouture.com and I am really enjoying this adventure with my sister. I am excited to see where the next year will take us!
